My names Cameron Ransley, I am a third year Heritage, Museums and Conservation student at the University of Canberra.i was born on the Gold Coast but moved to a small country town in NSW, Manilla when I was 12 years old.  Manilla cultivated my interests in outdoor activities and heritage. The property I grew up on is a cattle and sheep farm, this small family farming venture began well over 100 years ago and still continues to run short horn cows and merino sheep. I moved to Canberra in 2018 to begin study at the University of Canberra. Over the last 3 years the University has moulded into a person that is beginning to understand the workings of the heritage industry. I endeavour to pursue a career as a heritage consultant but have a strong interest in archival and museum management. In 2019 I interned at the Port Arthur Historic Site Management authority and gained valuable experience and knowledge that I can use in a future career. This experience made me make the choice to work towards the goal of becoming a Heritage consultant either in a private practice or one day my ow firm.

I currently work for a small Canberra Based business called Ben's Irrigation. I have held this job for well over 2.5 years and have helped grow the business into what it is today. I have held previous positions on my family's property and as a contractor to Gunnedah Shire Council in their Urban and Rural Roads Department. I have always enjoyed working out doors but at times like summer and winter it can take its toll. The heritage industry has always interested  me and studying at the University of  Canberra has sharpened my skills and knowledge in the field. I have gained skills in interpretation, museum procedures/policies and many more valuable skills to be successful in the heritage industry. University has expanded upon my existing skills set and made me a professional individual ready to begin my career in the heritage industry.
